AFC Asian Cup 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 have confirmed that the upcoming edition of Asia’s flagship national team competition will be held from January 12 to February 10, 2024.

The quadrennial continental championship was awarded to China in 2019 but the world’s most populous country relinquished the rights this year as it pursued a now rescinded zero-COVID policy.

DOHA: India will take on reigning Asian champions Qatar in a Group E match on June 3 as the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup resume early next month, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced.  The match will be played at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium with kick off set for 8:00pm.

PARIS: The Asian Football Confederation confirmed China as the hosts for the Asian Cup 2023 at the AFC Extraordinary Congress here Tuesday. The unanimous decision marks the second time Asia’s crown jewel will be played in the People’s Republic of China which also hosted the 13th edition in 2004 when the tournament was expanded to 16 teams for the first time.
