NEW DELHI: The Union Budget 2023 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday did not specifically bring out the matters of concern related to AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comic) sector.
Budget's key highlights relevant to gaming and Esports sector:
1. Mobile phone production in India has increased from 58 million units valued at Rs 18,900 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 310m units, valued at Rs 275,000 cr in the last financial year.
2. 100 labs for developing apps using 5G services will be set up in engineering institutions.
