TV and digital rights

NOW THIS DID NOT age well at all. But surprised we are most definitely not! Just a day after yet another headline cropped up (many such have appeared over the last few months) on an impending face-off between Jeff Bezos and Mukesh Ambani over ownership of media rights for world cricket's most valuable property - the Indian Premier League - it can finally be laid to rest. 

Two days ahead of the e-auction of IPL television and digital broadcast rights, came confirmation, Friday, 10th June, that US tech behemoth Amazon will NOT be in the bidding race.

MUMBAI (June 13): At the end of what has been a really topsy turvy day, the Indian Premier League's linear television rights have gone to incumbent Disney Star India (or maybe not?), with a winning bid of Rs 57.5 crore per game, while Viacom18 has secured the digital rights for a mind-boggling price of Rs 50 cr per game.

MUMBAI: The Reliance-controlled Viacom18 network has bagged the exclusive TV and digital rights for the Abu Dhabi T10. The cricket tournament will premiere from 19th November live on Colors Cineplex SD (Hindi), Colors Cineplex HD (English), Rishtey Cineplex (Hindi), Voot and Jio.
