GUWAHATI: The Assam state government has issued a Rs 500,000 cheque to ace boxer and Arjuna awardee Lovlina Borgohain with a view to "facilitating" the pugilist’s training and other preparations for the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the cheque to Lovlina’s father Tiken Borgohain on Thursday. He also handed over another cheque of Rs 200,000 for the Bronze medal Lovelina won at the Asian Boxing Championship held recently in Dubai.
Both the cheques were presented under the State Sports Policy.
