BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Torpedoes Volleyball Academy in India was officially recognised as a Volleyball Centre of Excellence in the country as the FIVB and Bengaluru Torpedoes signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last week.

Situated within the Padukone Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence, the Bengaluru Torpedoes volleyball academy will serve as a hub for promoting volleyball, further amplifying its development and outreach endeavours.

NEW DELHI: Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur inaugurated 33 Khelo India Centres in Rajasthan on Tuesday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.  The Union Minister announced that a National Center of Excellence with a dedicated Sports Science Centre will be set up in Rajasthan along with additional 18 Khelo India centres, thus taking the total number of Khelo India centres in the State to 51.

Cricket superstar Virat Kohli has refuted as fake a Times of India report that said that he and his wife Anushka Sharma had invested Rs 19.24 crore for an eight-acre plot in Alibaug to build a farm house.  Kolhi called out TOI on the report on social media platform Instagram.  Sharing a screenshot of the news on Instagram, Kohli wrote, “Bachpan se jo akhbar Padha hai, wo bhi fake news chaapne lage ab.”

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has reiterated that India is "looking at" bidding for the Olympic Games in 2036. In a recent interaction with The Hindu, Thakur said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is "keen on" sports. "Sports is an area the PM is very keen on," said Thakur to the daily.

MUMBAI: The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has said that the Canadian Province of Alberta has withdrawn a bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The reason given by Alberta, who was the "preferred host" is exhaustive costs, the same reason which forced Victoria to pull out of staging the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
