MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has retained exclusive broadcast rights for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League. 

The broadcaster will get the exclusive television rights across the Indian subcontinent including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, and Maldives along with digital rights for India and Sri Lanka. Cricket fans are in for a high-octane ride with 40+ matches to be telecast across Sony Sports Ten 1 & Sony Sports Ten 5 channels.

Organisers of the Lanka Premier League announced Friday that Vivian Richards, one of the most revered figures in the world of cricket, has joined LPL as brand ambassador for its 2022 edition.  The third edition of the tournament will be played from 6th December through to 23rd December.

COLOMBO: The postponed Lanka Premier League (LPL) will now be held from December 6 to 23, the organisers have announced.  The Twenty20 League, which was originally slated to be played from August 1 to 21, had been suspended last month due to the economic and political crisis engulfing the Emerald Isles.

COLOMBO: The organizers of Lanka Premier League and Sri Lanka Cricket, upon recommendation of Sri Lanka's Ministry of Health, have decided to open ticket sales for up to 50% of stadium capacity for the second season of the LPL, which will be held from 5th December through to 23rd December.

COLOMBO: Out before even stepping in. IPG, organisers and commercial rights holders of the Lanka Premier League, and Sri Lanka Cricket on Wednesday informed that 27th Investments, who were previously onboarded as the owner of LPL's Colombo franchhise, has decided to withdraw from the tournament "after the parties were not able to come to a conclusive financial and logistical understanding".
