Sony Sports extends UEFA EURO rights into 2024, 2028 editions

MUMBAI: Sony Sports Network on Tuesday announced the extension of its collaboration with UEFA for all Europe's national team competitions up to 2028. 

This gives the network exclusive media rights for the 2024 and 2028 editions of UEFA EURO, along with its European qualifiers and friendly matches.

The UEFA tournaments will be available exclusively on both linear television in the Indian subcontinent, including India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, and Sri Lanka, as well as live-streamed on their on-demand OTT platform SonyLIV.

UEFA takes Expedia route till 2021
ZURICH: UEFA announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with Expedia Group, one of the world’s largest online travel and tourism portals, to become the Official Travel Partner of the Champions League.  The three-season agreement also includes the Super Cup, Youth League Finals and the newly formed Futsal Champions League Finals until the end of the 2020-2021 season.

UEFA renews global licensee agreement with IMG till 2022
LYON: UEFA has extended the Master Licensee agreement it had entered in to with IMG Licensing in 2014 through to the end of 2022. The earlier deal ran from 2014 through to 2017.

UEFA extends partnership with Playstation
ZURICH: European football’s governing body, UEFA announced on Friday an extension of their contract with Sony Interactive Entertainment’s popular gaming brand Playstation until 2021.  The partnership has been in existence since 1997. Playstation’s logo has been seen throughout UEFA competitions, more so the Champions League.

Istanbul to host 2020 UEFA CL final
KYIV: European football’s governing body UEFA on Thursday announced Turkey’s capital city Istanbul as the venue of the 2020 Champions League final.  The home of the Turkish national team, the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı is the country's largest stadium, and famously staged the 2005 UEFA Champions League final when Liverpool came from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan on penalties.

adidas extends UEFA Champions League partnership
NYON, Switzerland:  UEFA announced Tuesday the extension of adidas’ partnership with the Champions League for the 2018-21 cycle as Official Match Ball Supplier, continuing its relationship with the German sportswear company which began in 2001.  The agreement also covers the right to supply the official match balls for UEFA's Super Cup, Youth League and Futsal Champions League between 2018 and 2021.

UEFA president expresses concern over VAR use at FIFA World Cup 2018
LYON, Switzerland: UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin isn’t entirely satisfied with the decision of using the Video Replay System (VAR) at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, saying the technology required more testing before it could be used in the Champions League.
