KOLKATA: The Hero I-League 2021-22 season is set to resume on March 3, after being temporarily suspended due to a Covid outbreak.  Sunando Dhar, CEO, Leagues and Development, explained the reasons to halt proceedings in January and looked ahead to the restart.

NEW DELHI: The Hero I-League 2021-22, which is all set to kick off from December 26 in three venues in and around Kolkata, will have the widest geographical spread spread to date. The upcoming edition will feature 13 teams from 11 cities.   The Mohun Bagan ground in Kolkata, the picturesque Kalyani Stadium and the Naihati Stadium are the three venues that will host the latest edition of the I-League.

NEW DELHI: Since the inception of the Hero I-League, there has never been a season as contrasting as 2020-21 which kicks off Saturday, with Sudeva Delhi FC taking on Mohammedan SC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

NEW DELHI: The Hero I-League will start in the first week of January and not in December, after the West Bengal government asked the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to postpone the start of the tournament citing festive rush during Christmas and New year. It will be held in three or four venues in and around Kolkata, reports The New Indian Express.

NEW DELHI: New entrants Sudeva FC will be fielding an "all Indian XI" in the forthcoming Hero I-League 2020-21, club president Anuj Gupta has confirmed. In the chat with AIFF TV, which will be aired on Friday on AIFF social media handles at 5.30pm, Gupta confirmed he is "not looking at foreign options" and wants to combine a team of his academy graduates and experienced Indian players.

NEW DELHI: A significant expansion of the Hero Indian Women's League, which currently comprises 24 teams, is on the anvil, I-League CEO Sunando Dhar has confirmed. “108 clubs across 14 states have shown interest to play in the Hero Indian Women’s League. The aim is to increase the matches,” Dhar informed the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) executive committee, at its meeting held here Tuesday.

NEW DELHI: A brand new 13th edition of the Hero I-League kicked off Saturday with a double-header featuring a clash between former champions Mohun Bagan and Aizawl FC starting the ball rolling, followed by Gokulam Kerala FC taking on Neroca FC at 7 pm at home.
