MUMBAI: This is interesting. It looks like Disney Star has taken a strategic call to let go media rights to the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the calendar year. The rights have been picked up by Sony Pictures Networks India. Without any fanfare it needs mentioning.

Wrapping up the Grand Slam season, US Open 2022 will be played at Flushing Meadows in New York City between Monday, 29 August and Sunday, 11 September. 

While there has been no official announcement as yet, promos advertising the upcoming Grand Slam have begun appearing on SPN's streaming platform SonyLIV.

MUMBAI: SonyLIV, the OTT brand of Sony Pictures Networks India, has started rolling out its "SonyLIV 2.0". The new update comes with enhanced user experience and new brand identity, the company mentioned in its official release. The phased rollout of SonyLIV 2.0 will complete in an estimated duration of three weeks. The original content catalog will launch in June as part of a new LIV Premium subscription pack.

MUMBAI: Uday Sodhi, executive vice-president and head, digital business, Sony Pictures Network India, is leaving the broadcast network.  Sodhi has been heading Sony’s digital business for the past five years and was responsible for the operations of its video streaming service SonyLIV. He will now pursue entrepreneurial ventures in the start-up space, a statement from the company said.

AIZAWL, Mizoram: SonyLIV, the video streaming service of Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), will telecast Season 8 of the Mizoram Premier League (MPL) on the national OTT platform. Season 8 of MPL kicked off on Thursday. Select matches of the MPL will be streamed live on SonyLIV. During the last seven seasons, MPL was televised on Zonet, a local cable channel, Northeast Now reports.
