MUMBAI: Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has become the first cricketer plying his trade in the Indian Premier League to earn over Rs 1.5 billion in wages alone from the IPL, after he was retained by his franchise. 

Currently on a salary of Rs 150 million, India's former "Captain Cool", who has led CSK since the IPL's inception in 2008, had cumulatively been paid over Rs 1.37 billion as salary by the India Cements-owned team up to the 2020 season of world cricket's richest annual tournament.

MUMBAI: The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) is working on a plan to add Rs two billion to the existing budget of Rs 1.8  billion this season to provide for a hike of cricketers who play for India, as well as domestic players.
