BCCI confirms Mastercard as India home cricket title sponsor

MUMBAI: Mastercard on Monday confirmed it will be the title sponsor for all international matches (both women and men) held on home ground, domestic cricket matches like Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Ranji Trophy organized by the BCCI as also all junior cricket (Under 19 and Under 23) matches held in India.

The announcement confirms earlier reports that Paytm - the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s title sponsor for international cricket at home - had opted out of the deal that runs till March 31, 2023.

The fintech company has reportedly transferred the rights to Mastercard.  As per Hindustan Times, the tripartite deal is similar to how BYJU'S took over BCCI jersey rights from Oppo.

Paytm retains India cricket title sponsorship, value up 58%
MUMBAI: Paytm, the digital wallet company owned by One97 Communications Private Limited, has retained the title sponsorship rights of Indian cricket for the next four years (2019-23). The winning bid was Rs 3.268 billion to be paid for 2019-23 home season. The winning bid (per international match) was Rs 38 million, which is a 58% incremental value increase over the previous per match value of Rs 24 million.
