NEW DELHI: Former India cricketer Suresh Raina would set up a cricket academy in Jammu and Kashmir to train aspiring cricketers, particularly youngsters from remote areas of the state, PTI Quotes an official spokesman as having said on Friday.

On a recent visit to Kashmir, Raina called on Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh to discuss the plans for encouraging local youths in honing their sporting skills.

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Tuesday sanctioned Rs143 million to promote block level sports in Jammu and Kashmir. The amount has been sanctioned under the 'Khelo India' scheme by the Union Sports Ministry. Implementation of this scheme was announced by Union home minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to the state on June 7 and 8.

NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir will host its first ever international martial arts games, in which over 12 countries are expected to participate, in the first week of October this year in the summer capital, Srinagar. The international tournament is scheduled to be held from October 3 to October 7, at SK Indoor Stadium in Srinagar, UNI reports.
