During the International Summit on Sport, held at the Vatican on 29 and 30 September, International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach joined Pope Francis and other leaders from major sports and inter-governmental organisations in signing a new declaration to foster inclusion and access to sport for all.

The International Olympic Committee has agreed to work with the Indian Olympic Association to ensure that the IOA Constitution is amended and elections, scheduled for December, are held in "accordance with the Olympic Charter".  IOA representatives met with the IOC at its headquarters in Lausanne where both parties agreed to "address and resolve the governance issues affecting" the India's Olympic body.

LAUSANNE: The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee Thursday issued a final warning to the Indian Olympic Association to "resolve its governance issues" and hold elections by December, failing which the IOC will ban India.  An immediate fallout of the edict is that the IOC Session, which was due to take place in Mumbai in May 2023, has been postponed to September or October 2023.

The International Cricket Council's ambitions to see cricket as an Olympic sport have reportedly been given a longshot lifeline.  The ICC will reportedly submit a presentation later this month regarding the inclusion of cricket in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028. The decision is expected ahead of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Mumbai in mid-2023.

NEW DELHI: Veteran sports administrator Narinder Batra on Monday resigned as president of International Hockey Federation (FIH) with immediate effect and also gave up his membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In three separate letters, Batra officially tendered his resignations from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), IOC and FIH respectively.
