Global Poker League

MUMBAI: PokerStars India Friday announced that its flagship property, the Global Poker League (GPL) will be airing on Viacom18’s Colors Infinity channels starting 9 March. Colors will broadcast two episodes every Saturday from 7-8 pm IST over a five-week period with the final on April 6.

GPL India was filmed over a four-month period and documents the thrills and spills of the league, which saw over 7,500 amateur poker players attempt to qualify for 12 available spots across six city-tied teams (Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata).

MUMBAI: A new team-based poker competition will soon enter the Indian market with the launch of GPL India. The regional league will include six teams covering India’s “largest and most poker-friendly” cities, reports Gutshot Magazine. Teams from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad will have a mix of Global Poker Index (GPI) pro players as well as “grassroots” qualifiers.
