NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will NOT declare the Indian Super League (ISL) as the top-tier of Indian football when its executive committee meets here on July 3. All the three parties - AIFF, its commercial partner Football Sports Development Limited (FDSL) and the I-League clubs - have reportedly agreed on a compromise formula.

NEW DELHI: It has been a long time coming, and trust deficit notwithstanding, the governing body of Indian football, its commercial partners and the I-League clubs will finally get to sit across the table on July 3. Which also explains why the all important meeting of the AIFF's executive committee, which was earlier scheduled to happen on July 3, was on Friday postponed to July 9.

The AIFF is all set to approve the Indian Super League as the top tier Indian club football in an executive committee meeting that will be summoned next month, The Times of India reported.

NEW DELHI: Minerva Punjab's combative owner Ranjit Bajaj on Friday morning took to Twitter to declare he was shutting operations. Reason: The 2017-18 season I-League champions were informed that the Kalinga Stadium will not be available to host the home matches for the Chandigarh-based club as the facility is set to undergo renovation after the completion of the Super Cup.

It bears noting that FSDL first floated a tender for new ISL teams through ‘Invitation To Bid’ (ITB) in May 2017.
