Odisha gets FIH Certification for 1 more hockey stadium

BHUBANESWAR: After the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, which is currently hosting the Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, Odisha has secured FIH certification for another hockey stadium in the state. 

Tileikani hockey stadium in Sundargarh district of Odisha has been tested and met the requirements for FIH Category III hockey field certification. The FIH issued the certificate on January 16 and it is valid till December 27, 2025.

FIH confirms Odisha Men’s Hockey World League Final, Bhubaneswar 2017 schedule
BHUBANESWAR: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the pools and schedule for the Odisha Men’s Hockey World League Final, Bhubaneswar 2017. Seven teams who qualified through the Hockey World League Semi-Finals plus hosts India will go head to head to be crowned champions of season 3, which started back in April 2016.

Hockey India to advertise for new coach
NEW DELHI: Hockey India, the governing body of field hockey in India, plans to place advertisements for a new coach on its portal as well as the website of the Sports Authority of India. HI is seeking a new head coach to replace  Roeland Oltmans, who was sacked by the governing body last weekend.

FIH names marcom head
LAUSANNE: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the appointment of Delf Ness as marketing and communications director. Delf will take up the newly created position at the FIH headquarters here in October. The former vice-president of the DHB (German Hockey Federation) will be responsible for leading the sport’s marketing, digital and communications strategies going forward.

Hockey India confirms no HIL in 2018
NEW DELHI: Confirming news that has been doing the rounds for a while now, it was announced on Tuesday that there will definitely NOT be a sixth edition of the Hockey India League in 2018.  HIL's governing committee, comprising representatives of Hockey India and other stakeholders, are instead looking to schedule the next edition of India's only professional hockey league to an unspecified window in 2019.

FIH sees much potential in home-and-away league plan

CHANDIGARH: The male and female Player, Goalkeeper, Rising Star and Coach of the Year Awards were presented to the winners in a star-studded Hockey Stars 2016 Awards ceremony here Thursday. Olympic Silver medallists - Belgium’s John-John Dohmen, and retiring Netherlands star Naomi Van As, were named the respective male and female Players of the Year for 2016.
