NEW DELHI: The Bureau of the FIFA Council Friday lifted the suspension that was imposed on the All India Football Federation (AIFF) due to undue third-party influence. 

The decision was taken after FIFA received confirmation that the mandate of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators that was set up to assume the powers of the AIFF executive committee had been terminated and that the AIFF administration had regained full control of the AIFF’s daily affairs.

Close on the heels of the Supreme Court on Monday disbanding the Committee of Administrators running the All India Football Federation, as demanded by FIFA, the returning officer announced that elections to the AIFF executive committee will be held on September 2 and aspiring candidates can file fresh nominations from August 25.

NEW DELHI: The Committee of Administrators currently running Hockey India has appointed the returning officer and assistant returning officer for the conduct of the upcoming elections. Ajay Nayak, former Chief Electoral Officer, Government of Bihar, will be assuming the position of returning officer. Additionally, AK Majumdar has been appointed as the assistant returning officer.
