NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Thursday released a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for title sponsorship rights for the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022. The RFQ document is available for purchase for Rs 100,000 + 18,000 (GST) for Indian entities and for Rs 100,000 in dollar equivalent for foreign entities and is available for purchase till May 4.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the venues for the five-match T20I series against South Africa, beginning 9 June. The T20I series begins less than two weeks after the conclusion of the ongoing IPL, with the first match in Delhi. The five matches will take place across 11 days, concluding with the final game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

MUMBAI: Ahmedabad and Kolkata will (as expected) host the IPL playoffs in front of full capacity crowds, the BCCI has confirmed.  While Eden Gardens will host Qualifier 1 on May 24 followed by the Eliminator the next day, the Narendra Modi Stadium will play host to Qualifier 2 on May 27 and the final on May 29, ESPNcricinfo reports.

MUMBAI: Match No. 32 of IPL 2022 between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, which was shifted from MCA Stadium in Pune to Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai due to COVID-19 outbreak in the DC team, finally went ahead on schedule.  The developments came even as a second overseas player of Delhi Capitals tested positive. This came just hours ahead of the team's game against Punjab Kings.

MUMBAI: The BCCI is reportedly planning to start its long-awaited women’s IPL from next year onwards with the board working on plans on number of teams and appropriate window for the event.  The board is reportedly exploring plans to organise the tournament in August next year and is expected to make an official annoucnement soon.

For the record, the BCCI released the tender for the Indian Premier League media rights on Tuesday, March 29.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, which will be held in Mumbai and Pune.  A total number of 70 league matches and 4 Playoff games will be played over 65 days.  The 15th season will start on 26th March at the Wankhede stadium with a blockbuster clash between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.
