Blasters announce Bagan's I-League-winning coach as new gaffer

KOCHI: Kerala Blasters has appointed José Antonio Vicuña Ochandorena, popularly known as Kibu Vicuna, as head coach for the upcoming ISL Season 7. 

With over 18 years of coaching experience, the former Spanish professional football player, has a vast and rich experience with a number of clubs from his native, Spain and Poland. For most of his coaching career he worked as the assistant of Jan Urban and various other first division Polish clubs.The 48-year-old professional, joins Kerala Blasters after his one-year stint with Mohun Bagun, wherein the club won the I-League during his maiden season, with four games to spare. Under his guidance, the team scored 36 goals while playing a very attacking and energetic brand of football, sure to be appreciated by the Blaster’s faithful.

We (coaching staff and players)  are going to do our best in order to play a good style of football and get the best results. Our objective is to make the ever energetic and supportive fans of Kerala Blasters, proud of our team.”, says Kibu.

The Spanish born Kibu, who now holds Polish citizenship, coached his first team when he was just 16. His passion for football and mentorship started very early, when he was asked to train the junior players of his school. Outside football, the Spaniard enjoys going to the gym, watching movies, swimming, playing badminton and reading psychology and management books.
