MUMBAI: Pro Volleyball League, Premier Badminton League... And now the Pro Kabaddi League. It was always on the cards and PKL's majority stakeholder Star India has finally made it official. PKL's eighth season has been postponed to 2021, with the assurance that the league will return "once it's safe to resume".

For the record, the COVID-19 pandemic has put paid to the PKL, which was originally scheduled to be held between between July and October.

A statement issued by the organisers on the league's official Twitter handle reads: "Under the current circumstances and keeping in mind the official guidelines and health and safety of players in the context of an indoor contact sport, we regret the postponement of Season 8 of PKL.

"We will be back next year once it's safe to resume."

Bengal Warriors are the reigning champions of the tournament.
