India will face competition from Canada, Nigeria and two other as yet unnamed countries in its bid to host the centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030, Commonwealth Sport (CWS) confirmed on Wednesday.
This is as clear an indication as any (if one were really needed), that all the gung ho declarations doing the rounds that India was a shoo in to host the far, far more prestigious 2036 Olympic Games in Ahmedabad are more than premature.
