MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to form a committee to look into compensating Indian domestic cricketers for loss of income suffered in the 2020 and 2021 seasons due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The decision was taken Sunday at the BCCI's 8th apex council meeting (emergent meeting).

HYDERABAD: Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin has been provisionally removed from the post of Hyderabad Cricket Association president following a range of allegations - from conflict of interest to non-disclosure of information, arbitrary appointments, corruption and highhandedness - made against him by the HCA apex council.

MUMBAI: In a major relief to the BCCI, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday set aside an arbitration award directing the Indian cricket board to pay over Rs 48 billion to Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd (DCHL), holding company of the now defunct Deccan Chargers Indian Premier League franchise, over the allegedly illegal termination of the team from the IPL in 2012.

LAUSANNE: The International Boxing Association on Monday said it has retained McLaren Sport Solution (MGSS), led by Professor Richard McLaren, to conduct a two-phase independent investigation into allgations of unfair refereeing and judging at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. AIBA expects the first phase of the probe to be completed by August.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha, which today can rightfully lay claim to being the "patron state" for hockey in India, will now have outsiders running the show there. This comes after Hockey India nominated Bhola Nath Singh, currently president of the Jharkhand Hockey Association, as chairman of the ad hoc committee that will manage the game in the Eastern Indian state.

HYDERABAD: Mohammad Azharuddin, president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, has termed the showcause notice sent to him by his rivals, on the "advice of the HCA apex council", as "malafide and illegal".  The showcause is in reaction to a notice issued by Azharuddin to the apex council members two months ago.

KOCHI: Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters FC declared Tuesday that all "necessary actions have been taken to clear pending obligations" in the wake of receiving a letter from FIFA stating that the club has been banned from signing players in the upcoming transfer window.  The Yellow Army is set to sign Serbian Ivan Vukomanovic as head coach as they prepare for the new season.
