FanCode's NBA India live stream deal set for tip-off

MUMBAI: Eight months after multi-sport aggregator platform FanCode announced an agreement with the National Basketball Association to livestream NBA games and programming to fans in India, the deal is ready for tip-off, albeit quite a later than originally envisaged.

After being shut down for more than four months due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 NBA season is set to tip off again.

FanCode will deliver interactive and comprehensive coverage of the NBA for Indian Basketball Fans through live and on-demand access to select games throughout the season including regular-season games, the Playoffs and The Finals, along with live scores, features, news coverage, fantasy research, and a lot more.

“By offering NBA games on FanCode, we will further connect with millions of fans in India who enjoy NBA daily fantasy by offering them features like fantasy research, game recaps, news, live scores and much more,” Rajesh Sethi, then NBA India managing director, had stated at the time.  “As the demand for NBA programming and content continues to grow in India, we are committed to providing fans with new and personalized ways to connect with the NBA.”

For the record, Sethi stepped down from his position at the company on July 15. While the NBA has begun the process of identifying a new leader for the India business, Scott Levy, MD for Asia, will oversee the India operations out of Hong Kong in the meantime.

FanCode, owned by sports tech company Dream Sports, which also owns Dream11, the NBA’s official Fantasy Gaming Partner in India, has over 10 million app installs. Games streamed live on the platform will be the same that would be available for fantasy gaming on Dream11.
