MUMBAI: Many of the world's best female golfers will be heading to Singapore to take part in the HSBC Women's Champions later this month.

This prestigious event is unofficially known in the golf world as 'Asia's major' and takes place at the Garden Course of the Tanah Merah Country Club from 25-28 February.

Golf stars such as Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer and Catriona Matthew will be participating in the tournament. With the LPGA Tour season officially getting underway in Pattaya, Thailand, early next month, the players should be well-practised and ready to produce their best form by the time they get to Singapore.

American star, Creamer, who has eight LPGA titles to her name, explained the appeal of the HSBC Women's Champions. "The fans being fantastic, along with the level of competition being top-notch, make it a really exciting week," she told the official tournament website. Creamer will be aiming for victory this year after finishing third at the event in both 2008 and 2009.
