MUMBAI: Jeev Milkha Singh's disappointing show at the just concluded the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, where he signed off with a 74 to finish in tied 15th place, has made his chances of breaking into the world’s top-50 and thus qualify for the Masters that much more difficult.
The 2008 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner is currently in 59th position on the Official World Golf Ranking and will need to break into the top-50 by March to qualify.
There are less worries for reigning Asian Tour number one Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand who finished third in Dubai. This has helped Thongchai to move up to the 50th position on the ranking. The 12-time winner in Asia, who shot a final round one-over-par 73 for a four-day total of 10-under-par 278 at the Emirates Golf Club, will need to maintain his ranking until the end of March to qualify for the Masters, the year’s first Major.
