MUMBAI: The Commonwealth Games organising committee Friday launched its volunteer programme 'Delhi United', aimed at recruiting 30,000 volunteers for next year's mega event in the capital. The programme was launched on the eve of International Volunteer Day.

The volunteers, to be recruited from all over the country, will be imparted training in various functional aspects related to the hosting of the Games, scheduled October 3 to 14.

Five categories of volunteers - senior citizens, professionals, homemakers, differently-abled and international – were registered during the programme. To facilitate easy registration for volunteers, a special interactive web portal (cwgdelhi2010.org/delhiunited) has also been launched.
