Anup Singh is YAI sailing performance development committee head

MUMBAI: Eastern Naval Command Flag Officer Commanding in Chief Vice Admiral Anup Singh has been elected unopposed as chairman sailing performance development committee of the Yachting Association of India. 

Singh, commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1973, is a keen sportsman and adventurer. He has many national championship titles to his credit and also won a medal at the Asian Sailing Championships in 1981. He was the Sailing Master of the India's first square-rigged Sail Training Vessel ‘Varuna’ in 1980-82.  He also skippered the Naval Yacht ‘Samudra’ for the Pacific crossing during her round-the-world voyage in 1989.

He is also a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Nao Sena Medal.
